Making dreams happen
Some of my rocking horses are shown below. All are to 1/12th scale and the gallery shows changes over the years.
Most of my rocking horses have gone to new homes.
A very early rocking horse by Helen Dickins
This glider rocking horse is one of the first that I made
This horse was are hand carved from blocked wood, and the leatherwork is made from the thinest sheet leather that I could find.
The stirrups were made by hand from wire. I later had stirrups cast at a jeweller's foundry in Sydney, based on my pattern.

This glider rocking horse is an accurate, scale replica of a full scale Victorian or Edwardian era rocker
I follow the construction methods used for the full scale horse
Everything except the stirrups is made by hand. The stirrups were foundry cast to my pattern

An early bow rocking horse by Helen Dickins
This rocking horse is one of my early efforts at making a bow rocking horse.
In future, this style of horse will have a more pronounced curve to the bow.
The accompanying doll has a tightly plaited wig.
Both miniatures are made to 1/12th scale.
